Infinia is in the process of setting up shop in India – forming the team and putting together the appropriate legal entity through which it can work.
Infinia's solar technology entails a parabolic dish that focuses the sun's energy onto their stirling engine that uses helium in a hermetically sealed system, requiring no lubrication inside the machine, nor maintenance. At an installation cost of $6/Watt, the system is not yet cost competitive with conventional grid power.
Its activities in India are headed up by Gabriel Tashjian, vice president, commercial operations for Asia, Africa and the Middle East, based in the United States, and the in-country manager is Prakash Bhalekar, based in New Delhi. Prakash serves as the primary point of contact for commercial partners on both the manufacturing and sales fronts and with representatives of the federal and state governments in India.
