Chennai based Numeric Power Systems, a manufacturer of UPS systems, is planning a 1-MW solar energy farm in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, through its newly established subsidiary, Numeric Solar Energy Pvt. Ltd.
“We are setting up a solar project of 1 MW at the solar energy farm at Palladam near Coimbatore district. The cost of the project is estimated at Rs. 25 crore (US$ 5 million), which will be financed through internal accruals,” the Managing Director of Numeric Power, R. Chellappan said.
The company would buy solar cells from suppliers in Japan and Germany and configure panel modules and assemble them.
Numeric Power is also setting up a 200-KVA-a-day UPS manufacturing facility at Parwanoo in Himachal Pradesh. The Rs. 6-crore project will become operational by May, he added.
The company is also planning to invest in LED lighting systems projects and make foray into the precision air-conditioning space with a strategic partner.
